Diggory Diggington discovers a door in the basement of the ancient Victorian house his family lives in, the house his grandfather had built. Which was odd because the house had been built on an island where three rivers met.
The door leads a secret laboratory his grandfather had used 50 years earlier. He finds that beneath the whole island is a small city of dwellings and majestic halls and libraries. The he finds a door leading further down to an ancient train station. and the tracks lead further underground.
Diggory Digginton discovers the world his grandfather had discovered and ten kept secret years before. The world his grandfather eventually disappeared into, A world that is threatening our own and Diggory has to follow clues left by his grandfather in order to save the world.
